Add your own blends of oils to this highly absorbent, gently moisturising lotion.
We suggest you use 3% of Essential Oils to body lotion. Try mixing up a little at a time so you can vary the scent and action of the lotion. See below for suggested dilution rates.
Try mixing with Peppermint and Chamomile essential oils for a lotion to cool the skin and calm itching. Or you could try Basil, Rosewood and Geranium for a lovely invigorating lotion. The possibilites are pretty much endless! A quick search on the internet will reveal hundreds of recipes and ideas for you to use.
Good practice is to take a little lotion and work out the percentages of oils you would like to use. Try a skin patch test when you are happy with your mix to ensure that no irritation will occur. Then pour the lotion into a bowl, add the essential oils and mix thoroughly. Then pour the lotion back in to a bottle and store away from direct sunlight in a cool place.
Dilution Rates:
3% = roughly 3 drops of essential for every 5mls of base cream. If you're planning to apply the cream to your face then a 1% blend is recommended (1 drop per 5ml). 0.5% for children aged between 3 & 7, 1%-1.5% for kids between 7 & 12.
Some essential oils will need to be diluted more than this and some are not suitable for application to the skin. Please check the safety information for each oil before use.
