Base Products

Our Base Preparations range has been developed to help you to create uniquely personal blends.

Organic Carrier Oils

Slide 1

Demand for Organic Oils is becoming increasingly popular, so we have provided a comprehensive range of Carrier Oils that have been Soil Association certified. The Organic Carriers range compliments our Organic Essential Oils for those who desire a completely natural treatment.

Dilution Rates:
3% = roughly 3 drops of essential for every 5mls of base oil. If you're planning to apply to your face then a 1% blend is recommended (1 drop per 5ml). 0.5% for children aged between 3 & 7, 1%-1.5% for kids between 7 & 12. Always perform a skin patch test to check for sensitisation when using any oil or natural product for the first time.

Vegetable Glycerine /Witch Hazel

Slide 2

Vegetable Glycerine is a very versatile product which is used in many cosmetic preparations. It can be used as a base ingredient for face creams, hand lotions, body creams, body lotions, shampoo, conditioners and shower gels plus many more.

Witch Hazel can be used in many different ways too. It's a very useful astringent and is very gentle so is great for preparations designed to be used on a daily basis. It's especially good for repairing damaged or rough areas of skin.

Carrier Oils

Slide 3

Amphora Aromatics provide nut and seed-derived Carrier Oils of the highest quality. Although the properties of these unscented oils are often ignored, their benefits are considerable.

Carrier Oils are cold pressed, using as little heat as possible for extraction. The viscosity of oils varies with each type, as does the ease of absorption into the skin.

What does Cold Pressed mean?

The concept of cold-pressing dates back more than 150 years, and is the most efficient and natural method of extracting oils from seeds. Each machine contains two screws, which revolve and then literally squeeze the oil out of the seed at a low temperature. This process creates a by-product known as meal or cake, which is suitable for use in animal feed.

Benefits of the cold-pressing and filtering process include:

Oils produced in this way have a low peroxide value (PV).
More of the natural nutrients in the oils, such as essential fatty acids and vitamins, are preserved.
The filtering process will extract the waxes, remnants of seed husks and other sediments out of the unfiltered oil.
The resulting cold-pressed, filtered oil is a superb, clear oil.

Dilution Rates:

Infused Oils

Slide 5

The process of infusion is literally to soak a substance (in this case a flower) in a liquid (a vegetable oil) in order to infuse the oil with the essential oils from the flower or herb. This is a particularly helpful process to obtain essential oils from plants that cannot be expressed or distilled.

Our infused oils are made with Sweet Almond Oil.

Dilution Rates:
3% = roughly 3 drops of essential for every 5mls of base oil.
