General Description

Aniseed is thought to have originated from China.

The oil is distilled from the seeds of the herb Pimpinella Anisum, which has a pungent liquorice-like smell and is also known as anise oil.

Aniseed oil can be useful in the treatment of muscular aches and pains, rheumatism, bronchitis, whooping cough, colic, cramp, flatulence, indigestion, catarrh and migraines. It is particularly good for stimulating the lungs.

Properties

Antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, diuretic, expectorant, galactagogue, stimulant, stomachic.

Safety

DILUTE TO 5% OR LESS IN A CARRIER OIL BEFORE SKIN APPLICATION. KEEP OUT OF EYES. DO NOT SWALLOW. AVOID DURING PREGNANCY.
